My latest race to foreign parts with my team Rapha Condor Sharp has been the Tour of Korea. An 8 day long stage race, that has seen my condition steadily building for my next 2 months of fast and furious town centre racing coming up.
With a fair few climbs on most of the stages it was looking like a hard tour to get through for me. However I seem to have found my climbing legs in korea and managed to be in the bunch in the 2 hardest stages. I am clearly a better descender than I am climber though, stage 7 I reached 95 kmph on one of the descents whilst chasing back on to the bunch.
Racing in Asia is becoming a little bit more like Europe with teams riding together more often, there’s still some crazy stuff going off in the bunch though.
Never before have I seen a Harley Davidson as a race motor bike out rider and never before have I seen motorbike out riders crash into riders whilst passing the peloton. Not something you want to see.
Results wise, we were in the main breakaways every day, but only managed a few top 10′s in the bunch sprints. A little bit disappointing but personally I know I will get some great condition out of the 8 day training effect.
Roll on the Tour Series town centre racing in 2 weeks.
